VoIP - Voice over Internet A Panel Discussion Jointly hosted by the Telecomm and Tech Committees |
| Panelists: |
Dr Chi-Kuo Mao (毛治國), former Chairman of Chunghwa Telecom (中華電信) will offer closing remarks and the discussion will be moderated by Roc Jih (季鵬元), cochair of the Telecomm Committee and President of Alcatel Taiwan (阿爾卡特) |
| Description: |
The explosive trend in making phone calls over the Internet promises to disrupt the long tradition of circuit-switched phone business and radically change the landscape of all of our voice communications. The Telecomm and Technology Committees will jointly host a panel comprised of players who are engaged in guiding the business models and technology strategies of their enterprises in one of the planet's leading VoIP markets -- here on Taiwan. Our three panelists: Daniel Liu, Technical Director of Cisco Systems Taiwan (思科台灣 ), Donald Weng (翁樸棟), President of Savecom (宏遠電訊), and Robert Lo, VP of the Internet Communication Service Department and Leader of the PChome-Skype team bring to our panel a broad range of perspectives -- ranging from applications for the enterprise to the home user, and ranging from established networking companies to renegade start-ups. Each speaker will briefly present their companys' products, the target subscribers of their services and the features and strengths of their products. They will touch on the unique challenges of promoting VoIP services (market, technology, regulatory barriers, etc.) and explain how their company plans to overcome these hurdles. This panel will bring you privileged insights into obstacles and opportunities on the road ahead for VoIP. |
